KAISER'S Roubo Build Part one

Posted by kaiser , 04 February 2012 - - - - - - · 244 views

Here are my slabs milled up and glued.  In this post you will also find the monster tenon for the end cap.  I decided to use the closed end being that I am using contrasting woods for the end caps (black Walnut).  Yes I did say end caps, two of them and you will see why in later posts.  You will also see one of the end caps dry fitted.

moxon bench top bench vise.

Posted by kaiser , 04 February 2012 - - - - - - · 273 views

Here is my moxon benchtop bench.  I figured while I am building the vise I might as well build myself the benchtop bench too.  Since this will be primarily for joinery such as dovetailing tasks.  The support legs have a sliding dovetail into the the back jaw of the vise and also into the top.  The top is joined to back jaw of the vise using a half tailed lap joint.  It is a pretty cool accessory that I think will get a lot of use being that I have moving more towards hand cut dovetails.  I thing I am going to put some round dogs in the moveable jaw and in the top to keep my options open for holding capacity on the small bench.
