Dave H 637 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Share very nice jointery i'm guessing a shadow box. i noticed on your spline joint and don't get me wrong i would be proud to have this hanging on my wall, it looks like you used an atb blade to form your spline joint. i was makeing boxs useing a box joint jig on my table saw built two or three with atb blade then i bought a new flat top gring blade for the table saw and no more minute v's in the bottom of the cuts, for me it was a good purchase, no one ever said anything about the minute v's in the bottom of the fingers of my boxs but i drove me crazy. it is a beautiful project and will look wonderful hanging on the wall, keep up the good work. dave Quote Link to comment

You might have to get it resharped to get the bevel tooth below the raker. Those are fairly cheap as combo blades. I have used a triple chip, but they are a bit pricey sometimes. So the deep V's in the bottom of this cut are my ham handed sawing... The other corners have diffrent mistakes My tablesaw isn't operational yet Unisaw and I still have a lot of tuning to do on my bandsaw before it could really help out here. This is the first frame that I've made and I learned a lot of what not to do on this project and a better order of operations. The only power tool used for this project was the trim router to do the moulding profile as I have no moulding planes. Quote Link to comment

Nice dovetails, like the variation and spacings. Just a quick note, as far as flat bottom kerf what I do is use one of the outside blades off my dado set. Perfectly flat kerf bottoms and no extra money being spent. Looks great and thanks for sharing. Nate Quote Link to comment
SamV 12 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Share Thanks for the great comments. I got to try ending on half tails on the edges along with the modified tail for the rabbeted back panel. I'm finishing it now and will post the final project soon as it's done. Viall8r Quote Link to comment
