BigBen
I bought a PM3520B over the weekend. With my previous lathe (Nova 3000) I added weight to the bottom, I am wondering if that is needed for PM3520B. I do want to on occasion outboard large items but mostly do bowls and hollow forms. thewoodwhisperer
If I'm not mistaken, that's 145lbs vs 680lbs. I think you're good with no additional weight. Also, good luck moving it....ever.
croessler
Ben, i have owned a 3520b for a while now and turned some sizable pieces and never felt a need to weigh it down. Now if you where to turn a really large piece outboard that might cause you to do so but that's the only reason i can forsee
croessler
As an additional note I have turned pieces up to the max capacity (diameter) of the lathe with no issues.
Miles11we
On my old 650 lbs powermatic on some very unbalanced turnings iv made her dance. Obviously i was cranking it up beyond what iwas planning on turning at but i do that sometimes to make sure nothing is gonna go flying when im in the line of fire
Miles11we
But even with that kind work i dont need more weight when i slow everything down
HolzMechaniker
Bolt it down to the floor with at 1/4 steel bracing under the floor to put the bolts through.... Then you will NEVER move it
