Beechwood Chip
I couldn't get the Member Map to load on FireFox/Windows 7, Chrome/Windows 7, IE/Windows 7, or Chrome/MacOS Large Predatory Feline.
Llama
Large Predatory Feline. That's my stage name. Not sure how you knew that.
Byrdie
Is that just when you dance or when you play in a band too?
EdgewaterWW
Working fine with Chrome/Ubuntu (Linux).
Trip
Something changed with the Map a while ago --- for some reason, it now takes quite a while to build. The page sometimes takes longer to build than the time-out threshold set in the browser. If you bump your setting to infinite timeout you will eventually get the map (most of the time). Beechwood Chip
It's working fine for me, now. My first post was back in February, and I think it started working again soon after.
Trip
Yea, just tested -- seems AOK. Problem is, now lot's of folks will try and it'll get slow again...
Eric.
In similar news, there's now a map of my neighborhood in my profile page under User Tools...I didn't put it there and I don't know how to get rid of it. Don't get that.
Beechwood Chip
I just saw that, too, but it's my work location. I'm guessing I visited WTO on my iPhone with GPS enabled for my browser. I have GPS enabled so that I can search for "drug store near me", not so that sites can snarf my location and broadcast it. Also couldn't figure out how to remove it.
thewoodwhisperer
The original creator of the plugin reports that the member map broke due to a change in Google's API. This new version is in beta and uses Bing for the map. Unfortunately, it also adds the profile map feature and doesn't have a setting that allows me to turn that feature off. Sadly, that puts us in a position to either have the map ON or OFF depending on our priorities. I tend to be on the side of respecting personal privacy so I'm leaning toward removing it all together, or at least until I see an option for turning of the profile maps. Beechwood Chip
I'd appreciate that. I'm trying to keep Beechwood Chip separate from my real life life.
thewoodwhisperer
Whoop! Nevermind. I found a way to kill the profile map without completely disabling the regular map. We should be good to go now.
Beechwood Chip
Much better! Although, on the member map where I previously had given my location as my zip code, my dot is located on the men's room of the building where I work. That's the only place where I would have hit WTO using my iPhone. Technology is scary.
