Hi Ya'll,

My name is Steve Kreins and I am a 65yr old Newbie. My wife bought me a compound miter saw in November. I thought, "This is like buying a pet pig for a Rabbi." She said, "You've been talking about getting into woodworking for years, well here, go make something"

Well, how does someone with zero experience and no one around to teach him learn woodworking? It didn't take long to find Marc, the Wood Whisperer, Lumberjocks and Steve at Wood Working for Mere Mortals. I've been learning every day, I have more energy, I'm motivated and having fun.I have been battling liver cancer for two years and woodworking has become an awesome therapy for me!

I am looking forward to getting to know the folks on this forum and learning from you.

Blessings,

Steve Kreins

Welcome. You've got a whole range of people here with different skill levels. I'm 23, been working with wood since I can remember, but I still have a long way to go until I even get close to some of the stuff people put up here.

To echo what Eric said, get ready for a mouth full of different ways to do things when you ask a question. You can pick and choose which is best for you, which is the best part. Nothing is the best way to do something!

Ah, Steve...How lucky you are to be in such a nice country!   Those of us still stuck in the US, are just marking time till Austin freezes over!  Welcome to, learning central, where a simple joint turns into a discussion over the best  way to drill a hole!
