Tpt life
What's the matter G? You seem gun shy all of a sudden?
Marco Divetta
That centre board just screams mahogany :-/
wdwerker
I am sticking to my original guess of mahogany. Probably less expensive grade with some sapwood included.
Popular Post Eric.
I'm 99% certain it's mixed species. And 100% certain I don't know what they are. I agree the middle one looks like mahogany, and I still think the board in the first pic looks like sycamore...but I'm done with this mystery. I'd go with Graham's guess...it's wood alright.
TerryMcK
If the piece was mine I would probably put a veneer of known species over it.

wdwerker
You did all the work to strip it at least take a stab at finishing it. I would try dye and then stain on the underside of the top. If it comes out nice then go for it, even if it doesn't come out good enough you can always paint over that.

Janello
I'm pretty sure it's sick of more rays on the beach.
