Spunjin
I picked these pieces up from a friend who is claims to be a "woodworker" but is more like a wood hoarder. I wet the pieces with water to show some of the figure. Spunjinworks.wordpress.com

Spunjin
Thanks. He moved and told me to keep what was in his shop. Found these pieces, some walnut, white oak, and lots of spalted fiddle back maple turning blanks. Spunjinworks.wordpress.com

Marco Divetta
That first pice looks like it could be walnut ... And I don't like the look of some of them holes !!! ... Keep it separate to your wood pile As for the other I couldn't say ... Maybe let it dry and post another picture
Spunjin
Hmm...good point about the holes. The pieces are in a crate on the other side of the shop from my lumber. They are about the size of a binder and 8/4. Spunjinworks.wordpress.com
Tpt life
How big are they? I also was thinking Walnut but the prevalence of light wood is making curious if it is burl.
Eric.
I agree with Marco about the first one...looks like walnut with some figure, probably from near a crotch. No idea on the second one...is that a sheet of plywood? If it wasn't for the crazy grain and weird colors I might guess pine. Wild looking stuff. Spunjin
My friend said the second one may be redwood. Walnut isn't a far off guess. Most of the stuff he had was maple and walnut. Milled over a decade ago and air dried since. Spunjinworks.wordpress.com
