rubus
Just starting to frame the shop and was planning on building a small room within the interior to place the dust collector and compressor. I want to insulate for sound and was wondering what is best to use. Also, with respect to the dust collector should this room be vented in anyway? Thanks in advance Shane
Dave H
It would need some kind of venting for the exhaust air from the dust collector, no venting needed for the compressor.
wtnhighlander
Vent for heat removal as well.
Garbageman
You don't want your dust collector in the same small confined space as your air compressor. The air compressor will be sucking serious dust unless you plumb the intake to the outside of your building. If your in the building phase i would put a small add on outside of your shop for the compressor to eliminate that problem.

tim0625
1st post Garbageman! Welcome! Good place to hang out. Good catch. Both in the same room is trouble unless there's a wall separating and vents for the AC to suck and the DC to exhaust....ACDC....a good thing!
