wdwerker
Pleasing shape and an awesome inlay! Bravo! That must have been a pricey chunk of teak to start with, but now it is a piece of art .

duckkisser
Pleasing shape and an awesome inlay! Bravo! That must have been a pricey chunk of teak to start with, but now it is a piece of art . Now that everyone has seen it I have a confession on the cost...........a doller I. Bought the bowl for a dollar at a garage sale refinished it and added the inlay . I'll end up selling it for 40-50 bucks I love garage sales. Can't get teak around here not in that size but the places that grow teak can't get osage or mesquite so I don't feel too bad might I add I'm selling this for 50 bucks so I realy don't feel too bad. wdwerker
Ask for at least a hundred ! Don't settle for less than $75. And never admit you didn't make the whole thing !
Eric.
And never admit you didn't make the whole thing ! Yeah, I wish you hadn't told me that. Well done on the inlay anyway.
duckkisser
Yeah, I wish you hadn't told me that. Well done on the inlay anyway. I have made bowls almost as big but not out of teak. Just domestic woods don't think I could afford an entire log as big as this. It's the large salad bowls so it's probably 12 wide and 9 inches deep. I see these bowls at garage sales and second had stores all the time and they sit forever because some one leaves them in water or puts them in a dish washer. wtnhighlander
Duck, do you have to resurface the water damaged bowls on the lathe, or just sand and refinish?
duckkisser
The large ones and thin ones I just sand down and refinish them in my drive way. If there thick enough I turn them on my lathe because there usualy not perfectly round and if there thin I will have them fall apart on me trying to true them up again. Most have the finish so damaged it's not hard to get back to the raw wood.

duckkisser
I put the bowl in a local silent auction so the money would help buy supplies for them. It ended up going for 90 dollars. I'm happy that so many people liked my work
