rodger.
Another potential space saver for my shrinking shop is to use the benchdog cast iron wing to elminate the router tables footprint. Am i wasting my time looking into these? anyone have an opinion/experience to share? I would definately get a dedicated router fence, and not double up on the TS fence. I know it will be a hassle to lower the router if i need another cut on the TS, but it may be a good space saver to squeeze in a kapex. http://www.benchdog.com/ProMax.cfm
..Kev
You pretty much touched on most of the downsides.. They're a great space saver if you can live with those downsides. I now have a stand alone and love it but, did have one attached to my TS.
PaulMarcel
Mine's in my extension wing. Guess I haven't had to make another cut that required even moving the router fence to notice the problem, but that would be one. The advantage is the footprint. Since my tablesaw has a nice built-in mobile base, I can also easily move the router table.

Randy Thurman-Keup
I have mine in an extension wing, although it's not the first extension wing. It is homemade and attached to the TS rails as a 'second' wing. I too don't have the room for a dedicated router table, and there was all that wasted space in the TS. PaulMarcel
Do you have the bench dog model, or another unit? Sorry, should have specified. I don't have the Bench Dog model; it's an older Woodpecker's table
Tom King
I have one on a Unisaw, with a first model big Triton that I would be glad to sell for a couple of hundred dollars. I never use it anymore, and just haven't gotten around to putting the stock wing back on it.

Tom King
Yeah. I just don't use it anymore since I made several individual tops for a sash project a while back. I don't like the Triton router, and the router tops of my design have 100% dust collection with just a shop vac. Also, the router gets in the way of operating the tilt wheel on the right tilt saw. wdwerker
I have an old off brand cast iron router wing on one of my tablesaws. It does work but it has all the obvious drawbacks. As long as it is far enough from the saw clearance for the motor and hand wheels is ok. Of course my saw has a 50" rip capacity, your results may vary...<grin>
