G S Haydon
Great progress guys, these feel really authentic too. Mel's dovetails are typical of piece of this nature, honest and appropriate :-).

Tpt life
I finally figured out why G keeps posting that pic. The bench does not have the classic sloped leg and clamp
G S Haydon
All four of 'em are nice and straight. Keep it simple :-)
Tony Wilkins
All four of 'em are nice and straight. Keep it simple :-) I've wondered why the angled leg and chop. I like your bench Graham but I'd probably go for a leg vise. I've already sent an email to Peter Ross about forging me a planing stop/hook. jmaichel
Great job on the progress fellas. I am going to build an English bench later this year. I am really interested to see Mike Siemsen's video that he is doing with LAP, part of the video will include the building of an English Bench.
Tony Wilkins
+1 James. Been curious to see that come out to and will probably get it.
Tony Wilkins
Ok, so now I need to decide how to get the correct width on the shelves and bottom. The width of the remaining boards ranges from 7 1/4” to a shade under 9”. So what is the best way to rip these boards to get to where I need to be at 11 1/4”? Tony Wilkins
Fruits of my labor today = glued up, flat, and cut to length bottom panel.
Tony Wilkins
Got everything ready so that tomorrow I can try to cut the dovetails for the bottom. It'll be my first try at dovetails (as mentioned in the thread I started up in hand tool village).

Tony Wilkins
Well I've been called petulant and wished good riddance from the hobby today on another forum. Did really well on the dovetail until I got irritated at something else and went to banging on my chisel on the baseline. Think I'm going to cut them off and make the small chest. Sometimes you just have to step away.. Keep your chin up, I'm sure you'll get there!
