Popular Post Ian Gagnon Posted June 25, 2014 Popular Post Report Share Posted June 25, 2014 Well, maybe not as complete and shiny as some people might like, but since it is my very first bowl I'm going to put it to regular use at home (not for food) so I finished it enough to be sealed up and have a little sheen to it, but not super gloss. For the next one, I'm going to approach it a little differently, especially the way I finish the inside, but I'm pretty happy with it. Despite the small footprint, it's super stable. Probably because the walls are so thin and I left extra meat on the bottom for added weight. I also left a termite track on the edge of the bowl. I was going to turn it down a bit more to get rid of it, but all the other tracks and hollows gave it so much character, I wanted to leave that one too. As always, I'd love any input or critiques! Ian Gagnon Posted June 27, 2014 Author Report Share Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) No issues with catching, but there was a good reason for it: Kept my edges super sharp, made sure my speed was appropriate and rode the bevel. Additionally, it was all about light passes and not getting too aggressive. I'm also sure that there was some luck in there too! Hahaha. With grain going in every direction, it's a bit of a crap shoot when you start hollowing. You just have no idea what you're going to find.
