Half-dovetail box.

I received a Veritas dovetail saw for Christmas this last year, so recently I have been spending quite a bit of time teaching myself how to dovetail. Last week I was making a little box and had it half way assembled when my wife came into the shop. She asked me if I was making some sort of puzzle and thought it looked really cool. So I sat the half assembled box down and gave it a second look. With the pins pushed half way into the tails it gives a great visual of how the joinery works and is an interesting design detail. The lid is arched and has two large dovetails cut in it, leaving a thin strip to grasp.

The box is made of hard maple with a walnut accent.
