wouldwurker
The obvious: Air Filter. Powermatic PM1200. Picked this up last week, and can't believe what a difference it makes. For extra cleanup, my electric leaf blower gets the layer of particulate airborn, and the filter sucks it up. Worth every penny. The not so obvious: The Roomba That's my workshop workhorse. He never complains, doesn't ask for a raise, always happy to clean, and doesn't talk back. No matter how clean I think the floor may be, he manages to seek out dirt and dust. He's even equipped with a HEPA filter. No, I didn't buy this just for the shop, but he spends most of his robolife down there. The not so obvious, yet incredibly obvious solution: Make the mess outside! Here I am, trying to think of the best way to get the dust from my router table, to the chip collector, to the air filter, and out of those large double doors to the yard....wait..... large...double...doors....yard..... The router table isn't bolted to the floor, so out the door we went and flush trimmed hardboard templates with reckless abandon. The electric leaf blower cleaned up the mess in short order. Sometimes, the best solution is right under your nose. ...or, it's a robot.
Andrew Pritchard
Outside - it's certainly the best place to clean you DC filter bag. Take the unit outside, turn the bag inside out and turn the machine on. Very quick way to fill your yard full of dust, but it's outside so that's ok. Still worth putting your mask on first though!
