wouldwurker
A few years ago, my wife picked up this little blue plywood rocker. So...I tore it apart, flush trimmed all the pieces on some beautiful Spanish Cedar, and vowed to build it completely screwless (the chair, not me). It's an adventure I wouldn't undertake ever again, but it's pretty cool to look at this rocker and think, what he heck is holding that thing together? (yes...I realize that NOBODY but me and other woodworkers will think that...) 100 mortises and 50 dominos later, and LOTS of measuring and pencil lines, we have a dry fit. This has been a side project with the guild build adirondack chair I've been making since April. I'll add a few details to the rocker to compliment the chair, but it won't be Greene and Greene by any means. There are a few squared up blank canvas pieces on this rocker that are just begging for some creative detail. Now the fun begins!

wdwerker
Only a woodworker could put that much effort into a kid sized chair! Kev is right, awesome !

Coop
If not, this thing is so cool it would look good as a focal point in a garden or sunroom

wouldwurker
Last of the touch up detail complete. I added a baseball bat-esque taper to the front ventricle support, and rabbited the arms (since it will sit next to the guild build chair after all) Ready for sanding. wouldwurker
Epoxy on the bottom on the rocking legs.
wouldwurker
Rounded over on the router, and sanded with the ROS, but wasn't satisfied with the results, so took to all 23 pieces with my hands and sandpaper. Smooth as a baseball bat.
..Kev
Nice touch for durability with the epoxy! Looks beautiful!
ChetlovesMer
When can I order a set? I'd like 2 please for my kids. Seriously, beautiful work. Your little guy will probably not appreciate the love you put into a project like that. But one day he may look back on it and say "Wow, my dad's pretty cool." wouldwurker
Let's see if those 5x30mm dominos hold up first. He won't be thinking about how cool I am with a broken tailbone
wouldwurker
5 more hours of hand sanding. 180, 220, 320. End grain 400 , 500. Can't wait to prefinish tomorrow night when the dust settles.

wouldwurker
It's finishing time! Been daydreaming about it all day. Made myself a 'bed of nails' so I could finish both sides.
