left tilt v right tilt

My first two table saws were left tilt the last one I bought (199?) was a right tilt (all contractor saws) and I've never liked it. I've been looking at a lot of used unisaws of all ages and they're almost All right tilt. That surprises me

Why would you want the blade to tilt Towards the rip fence?

In most right tilt saws you would just move the fence to the other side of the blade .  Then your cutoff would be on the right .  I would guess the advantage of the left tilt is you still have a considerable amount of table top too the right of the cut ,that's not the case with a right tilt saw when you move the fence to the left of the blade .

I may have got this wrong, but I think I read something about the measuring tape on the fence rail staying accurate when you change blade thicknesses, or use a dado stack.  Didn't make much sense to me, but I guess if you don't tilt the blade much and you use the fence measurement tape a lot it might make a difference.
