Eric.
Yeah baby is right. Cool and crisp in the Lou this morning. Back door open, shorts and sweatshirt...perfect. I feel alive again for the first time in four months...there's actually breathable OXYGEN in the air. This is woodworking weather yo! Mel's Halloween box thread is officially derailed. Sorry Mel. Llama
Bitter Sweet... Mailed out the box today, which is a good thing! But, not I need to make myself one. I really liked this one! Perhaps a different wood combo for the next one. Thinking of using a very nice piece of flame maple I have with ebony or padauk for the accents. Or some combination.... Idea being that I really like making boxes. Didn't think I'd enjoy it this much. So, I guess that it's more sweet than bitter.
Tpt life
I just don't see the big difference between a box and a drawer

wouldwurker
Great work, man. Did you ever get a pic next to something familiar for a sense of scale. I could never tell how big it was (the box). Sometimes it looked mailbox sized, and sometimes it looked really tiny !
Llama
Not really... I have a couple pics of it on top of my TS, but even that can be deceiving. The box measures roughly 18" wide, 6" deep, and 6" tall. Each of the three sections hold 3x5 cards, and the dividers are 1/4" thick ebony. So closer to a mailbox size than tiny. wouldwurker
It's my best sense of scale ! I just had to measure it with my own eyes! Seriously though, much bigger than I thought it was while I was following your journal

They can only buy alcohol in little containers in Wisconsin..

Byrdie
I'm outta likes (happens quickly when you haven't checked in for the better part of a week) so I'm just going to have to tell you - very nicely done. I like it! Good choice of woods though I have a serious case of ebony envy now.
Llama
Thanks Byrdie! That's why it was bitter sweet. Sure I can make another one, but I'd have to buy the ebony for my own use then

Popular Post Llama
Wanted to share this feedback from the customer about this box. From the very beginning of the idea process to the day my box arrived at my door Mr. Morris was a pleasure to work with! He supported and encouraged my ideas and worked with me to make them become a reality while staying in a budget that I could afford. Throughout the process he sent me consistent and frequent updates so that I felt included in my project. I honestly couldn't be happier with the end result as it is beautiful, of solid construction, and an heirloom that my family will cherish for generations. I highly recommend him! Mr Morris, thank you for this experience; it has been a pleasure to work with you.

JerrySats
You did a great job on the box, I didn't think people used recipe cards anymore. That was a nice letter from the client. You should do a little write up on how you communicated with them on the project. I'd be interested in hearing your process and what you did to keep involved during the build.
