Mzdadoc
I'm one of those people that read manuals and contracts and I can't find the answers. I love my vac and 125 sander! The manual states to clean dirt trap I think after each use. Where's that? Also how can you tell when the bag is full?
4-Square
Some FT end-user manuals expect a knowledge-baseline that may not exist. FT vacs can be used in wet & dry configurations. In addition, the CT series sports more accessories/options than one normally associates with a 'shop vac'. Here is a link to a reasonable thread on FT CT's operational modes: http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tool-problems/understanding-festool-dust-collection/ A simple answer: When using the CT for 'wet operations', you replace the paper filter(s) and collection bag with a 'dirt trap'. It's essentially a really expensive sponge in a purpose-made frame that snaps-in where the HEPA filter would reside to prevent dirt/water/etc from gumming-up the motor. The FT CT series is an OK liquid vac, but not astonishingly so. If liquids are your CT's raison d'etre, then there are cheaper options. When completing wet operation, the sponge is rinsed-out. Mzdadoc
Thank you! I don't have any intention to use it for wet pick up. Also thanks for the link I'll check it out.
4-Square
<don't have any intention> Trust me, if it's your only vac, then at some point (maybe years from now), you'll be getting wet...
..Kev
I have to say that I have no intentions of using my CT to suck up water but, I did learn something here I didn't know about it!
Mzdadoc
Emptied the pool this weekend and it was much easier for me to borrow my neighbors shop vac than it was for me to even think about using my Festool.....
wdwerker
Amen brother ! I have a Ridgid shop vac for wet, rough and nasty jobs. My Festool CT is a dust extractor with a Hepa filter for woodworking only.
