wouldwurker
Finally got around to putting some 3/4 ply on the exposed basement studs. Few more strips to go and I'll start making some do-dad holders for various shop brickabrak (scientifically speaking). One of the bar clamp racks, up close.
RichardA
Damn, I hate all that high falutin tech talk! Confuses me!
Tpt life
Vinny, I like that your cleat is laminated to a taller support. That should really minimize any tipping. I have not seen that exact setup before. Thanks for sharing.
Coop
I did something similar for my clamp racks. I attached a cleat to the back of the ply racks and it fits over the lips of the panels of one of my seldom opened overhead garage door. In the event that I do have to open it, I lift the whole rack off.
..Kev
Looks like you got lots of room to grow there! Very nice!
wouldwurker
Do-dad holders - 3/8" dowel stock on little cleats. Straight from the WW video. Speaking of, check out the snazzy shop apron! The thing I really didn't think about is that I really am loving the ability to slide things around in short order to make room or rearrange...that and not having peg board pegs come off with whatever I'm grabbing
TheWoodShouter
You know, my dad did the whole peg board thing with the holders, and I'm just not a big fan of the stuff, and it sounds like you're not either. As I plan my little shop area, I think I want to go with the extra time and expense to build cabinets and drawers for most of my tools rather than to use peg board. I'll be interested to see what you do for storage in your shop, and if maybe you'll be hanging cabinets and such from those cleats as well. Thanks for sharing the pics of your shop, it's great for newbies like me to see how more experienced people setup their shops. Best of luck with your projects! -TWS
wouldwurker
Thanks, but I'm hardly experienced. Just 10 months raving and drooling woodworking. The cleats were mostly a solution to the biggest problem in my shop, which is flat surfaces ( card tables, benchtop, tablesaw). They accumulate stuff....and dust. wouldwurker
This one is weird, because it actually takes up a bigger footprint then the original drill bit case, but for whatever reason, I'm incapable of putting bits back where they belong. Now I do. (Kinda reminds me of those MTWTFSS pill cases...)
