wdwerker
Looks good so far but do they pull up tight and not leave a gap on one corner ? Are you planning on adding splines?
wouldwurker
Yeah, that little gap is just where there's no tape. Splines to follow. Proud top Going to cut the top 1/4 off after glue up and add a few magnets. Haven't done one like this yet.
wdwerker
If you rub the corner of a miter with the side of a round screwdriver while it is wet with glue it is possible to bend the wood fibers and close slight gaps. Little trick I learned at a picture frame shop when I was a teenager. Try to spread any slight gap to more than one corner to minimize the appearance.

wdwerker
Oooh, I want a pair of those clamps ! Do you like it? Looks like it pulled up nice and tight to me ! Newcastle's some tasty brew. Thanks for sharing your progress.

wouldwurker
These clamps are great - I actually bought a second set to secure the top and bottom at the same time on bigger boxes. Doesn't work on thin frames though, which is the reason I picked it up in the first place :-

wouldwurker
Keys sanded down on the disc sander. ( blunder, my disc sander wasn't square...so after I took down the keys, my sides were all wonky. Had to square up and fix, but trimmed off more material that I cared for as a result. Chamfered the bottom too.
