Glen Bridges
Hi everyone, this is a simple one i think. Wax is just something I have never used for wood. I am making that grass hopper project for my niece and the legs are sticking when I roll it. Mark mentioned using wax to help it if did not roll. but what kind of wax? I looked on a few wood supply websites looking for the wax. I found a lot of waxes. Some of them are not very cheap, and none of them mentioned using it for a slick operation for wooden moving parts. thank you in advance
chefmagnus@grics.net
I got a bunch of half melted 100% bees wax candles and put them in a yard sell crockpot and use it on cutting boards and kitchen stuff. If you put it on and buff it out, it can be quite slick. Chef
Popular Post wtnhighlander
Johnson's paste wax or any other furniture paste wax should help.
Chuck Melton
I ended up using a rat rail rasp to open up the holes in the legs, it made a world of difference. I also found by using a thinner diameter dowel for the rear axle, it made the legs move much more freely.
wouldwurker
Where's the sticking at? I used nylon washers between all the 'wood on wood' areas which helped a great deal. If it's the dowel in the axel hole, or pegs that are sticking, you may been to drill a slightly bigger hole.
