tcarswell
I am making an arts and crafts rocking chair and I cut the chair rails last night everything went well except one tenon fits a bit loosely in its mortise. Do I need to make another rail or is there a fix for this ?
Beechwood Chip
You can glue a thin strip of wood to the tenon, and then sand or chisel to a perfect fit.

rodger.
You can glue a thin strip of wood to the tenon, and then sand or chisel to a perfect fit. +1 time tested method that works well. How loose is the fit?
wtnhighlander
Good tip I saw in a Mere Mortals episode: Iron-on edge banding makes an excellent shim for this particular issue.

tcarswell
Thanks guys ! Very much appreciated. It's loose but it won't fall out with its own weight. I just wanted it a tad tighter.
Gnarlywoodguy
A little glue on the tenon and a dusting of saw dust. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
