Eric.
I’m a newbie and just recently got a Stanley 93. It changed my life when fitting tenons but after reading this thread I just realized I’m finessing cheeks, not the shoulders as it was named for! As of yet I don’t think I’ve seen a “cheek” plane. Rabbet block plane is typically used for that.
Tpt life
Or the non block version.
jmaichel
I agree with what William and Eric said. I had an LV Shoulder Plane at one point and thought the thing was pretty useless. I have a LN rabbeting block plane that is the bees knees. It is so darn useful not only for trimming tenon shoulders but if you clamp a batten to a board it works pretty darn well for making rabbets too.
