mikem
Sounds like the belt is rubbing against something.
RichardA
I can't find it. Perhaps someone can tell me about this noise. Saw is a Craftsman Model 113.298761 http://youtu.be/8Xz3bHkSCL0 I have a craftsman saw as well! When ever I hear a noise that isn't proper, I go to the belt! Frequently, I need to either tighten, or loosen, depending on what I've been doing... Dadoing seems to tighten the belt. and ripping long hardwood seems to loosen it... I'd go there first. If that isn't the answer, a bearing check might be in order. When you check the belt, check the line up of the pulley's as well... a straight edge will work for that! collinb
Upon further investigation ... I checked and the set screw on the arbor pulley was loose. Tightened it down. When I checked out the saw @ purchase time the blade was spinning smoothly. But with this noise there is a noticeable vibration to the blade. Less vibration than my old direct drive, but it's still there. And the noise has been getting louder. Makes me wonder if I should just replace the arbor & bearings. And if there is anyone who had knowledge on how to properly align the belt pulleys ... Anything else I should check out? One final question: Any real reason for an amateur like myself to invest in the better pulleys that sometimes get mentioned here?
