Marco Divetta
Hi guys .. I can't decide on what finish to use on this bedside cabinet, it's made from pallet wood and I want to leave all the nail holes and gaps for that upcycled look. I see a lot of this style furniture online and it's either painted white, stained or treated for that aged look. I'm also considering leaving it raw and let it age. What's your preference or can you suggest something new. I do want to sell this piece because I don't have room for it and I was also thinking of letting the customer decide. Boatworks Today
I'd sell it unfinished with an up charge to apply whatever coating they want :-)
AceHoleInOne
My vote is to paint. If you decide to paint. Make sure you use a good primer to seal in all those knots. Hey maybe get a torch and scorch the wood? -Ace-
Coop
That looks pretty cool just like it is
rodger.
I would think that stain would be absorbed irregulary, and may be blotchy. I would go milk paint, or maybe oil based wipe on poly.
bob493
I would do some simple poly finish for protection. A solid color will be difficult to apply to that kind of wood without all kinds of extra work going into it. It has a rustic charm that many people would love, so my vote would be to leave as is with some simple protective coating applied.
Marco Divetta
Thanks guys ... I think I'm going to go for the natural look but It's going to have to get some sort of a clear, light film finish just for some added protection.
