Fiddler
So I have an issue with project creep, and this table is a perfect example. The Boss wanted me to make a table to go over the dog crate. She showed me a picture or two and I thought “Sixty dollars and a weekend and I will be done”. This is where the problems starts….as I am building the legs I thought “Tapered legs would be cool”. And then I thought “I have some left over hickory…..face splines would be really cool”. Then I fell further down the rabbit hole and put on hickory foot caps. With the base done I slipped even further down the rabbit hole and bought 10 board foot of hickory to trim the top. My original thought of a plywood top would no longer work with all this fine wood, so there I go buying an additional $30 of ¼” oak to laminate over the ply. In case you have not been following …the original $60 has come and gone x2, so has a few weekends. Some may say it is being artistic and although the journey is more fun than the destination, sometimes a box is just a box. So here is my dog crate bed which did not cost $60 or a few hours on the weekend. Unfortunately the rat dog will be on this every day looking out the window….I hope the finish holds up. wdwerker
Neat project ! If you can't do your best why bother ? Think positive it could be a 60 lb lap dog like my boxer trying to stand on the table and look out the window !
