Shop Talker
Hey all I am really new to the craft still Setting up my first shop. any way I was wondering if I build a solar kiln for drying lumber if some way I could harness the extra heat made in that process to heat my shop. I know its a moist heat but I was wondering if there was a way to make like a baffling thing like on my air compressor to compress the water out and then still use the hot air, or just run a dehumidifier. any help would be much appreciated. thanks
Popular Post TerryMcK
I think the power consumed by a dehumidifier would be better spent on just powering radiant infra red elements inside the shop rather than trying to take the moisture out of a solar kilns air.
..Kev
It's an interesting concept but, ultimately I think Terry is correct in that it would be quite costly to set up and you wouldn't get a great deal of return. Plus, it would only work while you were running the kiln.
