Best Workbench/Desktop Light?

For some freakish reason my eyes are aging while the rest of me remains youthful.....at least that's my story and I am sticking to it!   :)

Anyway, I have a couple cheap desk lights (the adjustable kind with the springs) but I am looking for a higher quality version of that type of light as the cheap ones keep wearing out.  Does anyone have a link to an adjustable workbench light they love?

Thanks, Jim

I've had supplemental lighting in my shop for a while. The bandsaw and the drill press needed some task lighting and the workbench needed some task lighting. Recently Chris Schwarz wrote in his blog about buying some low energy LED lights from Ikea. Now if it is good enough for Chris then it is good enough for me so I ordered some JANSJÖ clip on lights for the machines and a pair of JANSJÖ table top lights for the bench .

Terry, I'm sure you wouldn't be telling us about them if you didn't like them but, have you received them yet and do you like them?

Ken yes I did order them and have been using them for 18 months. They are superb. Probably one of the only items from Ikea that is. I managed to order them online rather than walk around the store for 4 hours trying to find the exit and consuming vast quantities of meat balls on the way.

I've been needing a good bench lite so I may make the trek. The only good thing about actually going to the Ikea here in Houston is that it's close to the Galleria/River Oaks area and I've never seen an ugly rich gal. Guess I'd better take my wife so I can remember what I'm going for

I don't have one of these but I want one.  You can get dog hole adapter thingies for them, too, and stick it right in the middle of your bench if you need to.  I don't often have the need for one, but I'd love to have it for inlay work.

About 25 years ago I went through a 'Dungeons and Dragons' phase and got one pretty much identical to that for painting fine detail on he figures. It is still using the original lamp. Over the years the springs have weakened very little and it still holds position. The only complaint I've got is the plastic lid over the magnifier. It can be a stubborn little git at times and gets in the way so I took mine of. Those adapters are a really good idea and I may have to get one.

Does anyone happen to know the maximum thickness that this light can clamp? I didn't see it listed in the description at Lee Valley.

[edit] I'm blind, apparently. it is listed at 2 1/2"
