Popular Post ..Kev
I'll start with a big "THANKS" to James for taking time to come visit my shop today! It was a lot of fun to work with somebody who I only really knew from this site! As was mentioned in another thread, I had the pleasure of a visit from James to my shop today. James asked if we could do a wavy cutting board while he was here so, here's the journal for it. Because of the number of glue ups and James' limited time with me in the shop, some prep work had to be done. I've see some of his work so, really didn't think he wanted to see basic board glue ups and stock milling. So, the next few pictures were done before he arrived. Yes, there are 2 boards.. That's so they can be at different stages when he arrives and not have to wait for glue ups. Next, they were pulled out of clamps and cut again. This time, flipped to the end grain for the glue up. Couple passes thru the drum sander, cleaned up the edges, and glued on the maple sides.. The end grain in these are looking awesome! I cut the wave in this one and it's where James will pick up after he cuts the wave in the other one and clamps it up to dry... It's all James' show the rest of the way! We had a blast and I really enjoyed working with James! Kind of missed a few pictures along the way but, that's ok. James cut and glued up this board.. Sand baby sand.. Salad bowl finish.. Nice shirt! All done! This is James and I doing our best Eric imitation..

RichardA
I have to admit, there are a few guys on this forum, that I could spend some time with in a shop.... They might run me off, but I'd enjoy doing a project or 2 with them! One in particular, and he knows who he is!

AstroDave
Very nice guys... I think this would be great to do in a bigger way... Maybe Marc should put together a user group meeting... say in Vegas... Get a bunch of vendors to pitch in the machines and we go to town makin and greetin... jmaichel
An even bigger THANKS to Kev for being such a great host! I will start by saying he has an amazing shop and is a very talented woodworker! Pictures do not do him enough justice. Everything in his shop is very organized and very well laid out. I know I took a way a few ideas for what I would like my future shop to look like. Kev is also an excellent teacher. He showed me how to use the lathe today, which is more fun than I could have ever imagined. I am really glad I made it up to see Kev's shop, I only wish I had gotten up there sooner. Hopefully I can make it up again before I move. Thanks again Kevin for a great day!
