..Kev
Can you move those by yourself or is it a 2 man job? If I had to I could but, it's pretty much a 2 person job.
blakjak220
Hey Bushwacked, I'm in Northeast Texas and was wondering where those prices are from.... They're quite a bit better than my local lumber yard. If they're a reasonable drive from me it'd probably be worth it.
bushwacked
Central hardwoods on northwest highway by the Dallas county border. Where are you located?
pdjms1
For others in the DFW Metroplex I have had good luck for board stock at Brazos Forrest Products off of 360 by the DFW Airport and for Slabs there is a guy in Mansfield named Fritz who runs a sawmill out of his house and apparently has a tree service or connection to one for his stock. I don't have his number on hand but if anyone wants his info just PM me and I would be happy to dig it out of my bag 'o' connections. blakjak220
I'm down I 30 just before u get to Arkansas.... about 2 ish hours from there. But I wind up in the DFW area fairly regularly for one reason or another. May have to drive my truck next time and come back with some wood. friscomike
Howdy, I heard Sweeney Hardwoods at 3609 Conway Street in Fort Worth has a good supply and is fair priced. I plan a trip up there soon and I'll post the pricelist. Best, mike
bushwacked
Ya just call central hardwoods because their price does fluctuate a little on supply/demand.
Anhigginb
I've always hit Hardwood Lumber Company of Dallas. Just a few blocks over from Central. Haven't ever compared prices, but they are super helpful. My son loves going down there with me.

Mick S
Yes, you can pick your lumber at HLC of Dallas. They also offer custom milling, including planing, moulding and I believe, CNC routing. I sold them a router maybe 16 or 17 years ago. As far as I know, they still have it. Very nice guys. Anhigginb
Yes, I've always picked my own. Usually get them to put a straight edge and plane to thickness sense I don't have a planer.
treeslayer
this is a scan of the local wood supplier, about 20 minutes from my house, after reading here i guess I'm lucky to have this place so close, they will plane to the thickness you want for 15 cents a foot an offer custom moldings as well, they have more wood species than listed here, you just have to ask to see what else they have. this place is HUGE, i asked the owner what was the value of the wood in the 2 buildings and he said just over 1 million dollars (insurance guy just left his place) will post pictures when i get over there next time.
