Nub Thumb
Anybody ever used one? A friend's dad offered me one. It was his dad's and he would sharpen all of the carpenters saws in town. That was in the 50s/60s so it's pretty old. Not sure of the model but it's got a motor. I'm going to fix his shed later this week and I'll pick it up then and be able to give some more details. Tom King
If he has a retoother, absolutely get that. An old carpenter that worked for me in 1974 had the whole Foley setup. Saws sharpened with it worked okay, certainly better than a dull one, but not nearly as good as a hand sharpened one. I wouldn't turn it down, and have even been passively looking for a retoother, but not really for a filing machine. I don't even remember if the filer used the carrier bars, but I expect it does. If those are available, they're often separated from the machines, and are harder to find.
