Popular Post bushwacked
As with much of 2015 I will be all over Asia. For the next week I am in Malaysia. Surprisingly Malaysian air was a decent airlines. They just have some older planes. 777-200 instead of the newer 300s. Seats are hard and worn out and food is interesting but what else would you expect. They do fly through a lot of turbulence from Japan to Malaysia. There were a few hours it was kinda worrisome. Looks like most big cities but dang do they have a lot of construction for new building and stuff though. We are going to see the Petronis towers tonight and have dinner by them so it should be interested. Always wanted to see them ever since Shawn connerys movie 'entrapment'. I guess we will see how cool they are in person. I will keep adding some pics throughout the trip here.

bushwacked
Maybe I missed it in another thread, but what brings you there? I think I posted in the thread that was called something like what's your day job ... Or something like that. I am a business analyst and right now I am part of a 6 man team implementing oracle software suite for our companies in Asia. Cool! Please post pics from top of the towers ! I will if we can get up there. I don't think they are open all day? My buddy was saying something like that but I forgot the details on it. I will post whatever pics I do get to take from when we get there though.
Eric.
Looks cool. I envy your abroad-ness. But don't get in trouble over there...I hear their prisons are less than hospitable...and they expect you to stay for a long time for minor offenses...after you're caned. So lay off the booze, dude. RichardA
If you have the time, look into how the woodworkers there do their work, maybe even pick up an unusual tool! Eric's correct, be careful of the drinking!
..Kev
Enjoy these places.. Many will never see them!

Oh yes prisons here would be absolute nightmares for an American. They don't exactly hate us but they don't exactly like us either. It is a predominately Muslim country. They do have some interesting laws and really favor the death penalty here so don't worry I will stick with my sprite and live to see another day. If you have the time, look into how the woodworkers there do their work, maybe even pick up an unusual tool! Eric's correct, be careful of the drinking! Yes. I have been looking into this but so far no luck with anywhere I can get to for some tools or some woodworking. I will keep digging though and hopefully on one of these trips be able to grab something traditional from here. Enjoy these places.. Many will never see them! You are right. I got lucky with my dream job and am very blessed to be able to do this ... Especially for free (company dime) Some more pictures from the day at the Petronis towers. They are only open for tours in the mornings and so we missed that. We are planning to eat at the 57th story restaurant sometime this week that over looks the tower so that should be pretty awesome. There is a really awesome picture of the towers where you can stand and get them in the background. I need to get that from my coworker today and post it too. It came out really neat! And of course we are here at the end of monsoon season sooo here is the rain haha
wdwerker
I heard that area is prone to flooding on occasion. I think the article said the towers made it worse for an adjacent section of town.

Sitting outside for breakfast this morning. It's actually somewhat nice and cool with a breeze and low humidity in the mornings. Then about 11ish that all changes. Coop
BW, if I recall from past posts, y'all, if married, boarded up the house and headed east for several months? Have a darn safe trip, and enjoy! And it looks like so far, you are!
bushwacked
BW, if I recall from past posts, y'all, if married, boarded up the house and headed east for several months? Have a darn safe trip, and enjoy! And it looks like so far, you are! Well I am married but did not board up the house and head east. As much fun as I would have in Asia and love every minute of it ... The wife would not sadly. Thanks and so far it has been a blast. I finally got some pics from my coworker as well. Their take on cheese fries. Looks like a mess but actually kinda good. Just super rich though so you can't eat much of it.

Coop
Hmmmm, Don't see much work getting done, but it does look like it's summer time there so I wouldn't concentrate on it much either! The peppers on the cheese fries look like jalapeños, are they hotter than ours?

Tom Crawford
Spent two years in the Peace Corps using one of those. Not really that bad after 3-4 months when your legs stop cramping and you can easily stand up again.

bushwacked
Haha yaaaa I don't want to find out what the water pressure is like. I'd probably just make a mess in my work clothes and be soaking wet
bushwacked
Dinner tonight was a fish market type place. Pick your fish and they cook it type deal. Too bad these would never pass in the US
