estesbubba
Purty...can't wait to follow the build...make it snappy :-) Dave aren't you and another person doing one also this year?
AstroDave
Yes but I need to wait until my finances recover...summer is likely when I'll start... Tom C was also considering it...
Warren Hein
Built mine last year. Thoroughly enjoyed the project and am using my bench almost daily. Rather than waste an inch on the board width, I just made my top 5" thick. I figured there was nothing to lose with the extra weight and my great-great-grandchildren will still have enough thickness to flatten it down the road. Tom Cancelleri
Tom C was also considering it... Tom is staring at the hardware in his cart on benchcrafted.com. I am trying to convince myself that I shouldn't even order it until my shop is rearranged and more orderly. I need to know what kind of size and layout space I'll have available. $900 is a lot of money considering all the other stuff I bought in the last 3 weeks. I think I'm gonna hold off until around April/May before I start getting ready for the build.
AstroDave
I think I'm gonna hold off until around April/May before I start getting ready for the build. Well then we might have our builds coincide BTW the Benchcrafted HW has been in my cart a few times already
Tom Cancelleri
Well then we might have our builds coincide BTW the Benchcrafted HW has been in my cart a few times already I was at the checkout screen last night. Just couldn't press submit order. I know the hardware will get here, and sit for a couple of months before I can even think about the build. BrandonD
I ordered mine a couple days ago and I'm looking at 3-4 weeks before it ships. Might help to order it now even if you aren't going to get started on it for a while. Although they're having problems with catching up production and sourcing the handles, so maybe waiting until they get that sorted would be better. Greenaqua
Good to see I am not the only one who hasn't built this bench. I ordered my hardware just over two weeks ago. I will probably go get the lumber next week here in Houston. I am going with soft maple and maybe Walnut for the chop and dead man as I think that looks awesome on some benches I have seen posted here. I ordered the M style and am not crazy about the idea of getting the beech handles with it but we shall see....
estesbubba
So did they let you guys know that you'll be getting the beech handles? I got mine 2 days ago and it had the rosewood handles.
BrandonD
I got the C style, which comes with beech anyway. I like the look and couldn't justify another $150 for the M style since they perform the same. I'd rather get a shiny new shoulder plane or something else for the build. Tom Cancelleri
I'd be a little upset about the beech handles being that it's almost a grand for both M vises with cocobolo handles. I'd ask for them to send you the right handles when they are in stock, or to compensate you in another way.
Brendon_t
Y'all have crazy patience if you have everything ready and are going to wait a while to build. . I'd be out there every night "prepping"..
estesbubba
Well the wood stacked in the center of the shop wasn't good for getting around, so like a good boy, I stacked and stickered it. Might also be good that the furnace isn't blasting warm air on it now.
