Resistance is not futile, but it is hard

Went to the local ReStore the other day.

Tempted to get a vintage DeWalt.  But that one was easy to resist.

It's the project-that-never-gets-done which is most difficult because they're the most tempting.

Wonder what it would take to get parts for that $20 lathe chassis?

Lathe looks like an old Powermatic. The Original Saw Company might have stuff for the radial arm.

Like I need a project.  I have to keep in mind that these are "interesting" only lest my garage get filled up with things other than measurably productive work.

Yea stuff like that can be fun to bring back to life.  Some times when you really have your foot stuck into the project, in the blink of an eye it turns in to a money pit.   There is a website called vintagemachinery.org dedicated to this kind of thing.  You look at some of the photos there and the stuff looks new because the people have done such a nice job.  Kind of like restoring a car.

For $20, I would have brought it home then found out.

In my teen years, My parents allowed me to throw down $500 on a 1963 Chrysler New Yorker. It was at a flea market and the owner stated all missing parts were in the trunk. .

Took thousands of dollars and a few years to even get parts to make it run

Oh, it's still there.  It will probably remain so for a while.
