Thom Pirson
i picked up this small round tablet use as a plant stand. Obviously someone else has had the same idea as it has layers of water damage to the top. Not sure of the wood, if this is in the finish, is there's way to clean it up/remove the stains without fully refinishing the top?
wdwerker
Howard's Restor- a-finish might help, can't hurt. It comes in different colors, in a little can. I get it at a hardware store. Just follow the directions on the can. It's not going to do as good of a job as refinishing the whole top( which is what it really needs) , but it will make an improvement . Just follow the directions on the can.
Thom Pirson
Thanks, taking a look at the legs and stretchers, I think the whole thing needs a bit of love. This would be the first restoring job of mine that doesn't involve taking thick layers of paint off with stripper. Is it better to just sand the finish off something like this? wdwerker
No, clean it up first with a little min. Spirits and a gray scotch brite pad, lightly! Maybe use stripper, but sanding can go through veneers so quick. Sanding can also take all kinds of details away or change the shape of a molding. Lightly sand after stripping. Then there are dozens of ways to refinish ! If you are going to use it for plants again, try the Howard's !
