ponderingturtle
As I have a relatively small space for a shop(11x20) I was figuring on putting most everything on casters but as the floor isn't the flatest or most level surface I was also thinking about leveling feet. What are peoples ideas about how to best make this work? I have seen some retractable casters for benches and the like and was wondering what people thought was the best method. ponderingturtle
I have looked at those, and the rated weight seems pretty low.
wouldwurker
Not sure of the weight of mine, but if you want to make a mental calculation, the bench in my pic is 6ft long, 4 layers of ply, and the rest is heavy SYP and also mixed SPF, plus a benchtop bandsaw, planer, and a heavy disc sander (not in that pic). The wheels do fine with all that.
Vyrolan
I have the Rockler version of the same kind of workbench caster and really like them. I may use them again on an assembly table.
ResidentEvil
I'd recommend that you do some sort of retractable wheels if at all possible. When I built my first general purpose workbench, I had it on wheels and it was a giant pain in the rear. I've since removed the wheels and ound a spot for it where I don't need to move it.
