Shop Lighting Question

That is highly theoretical.  I have had LED bulbs fail in my house after less than a year.  Maybe they last forever in lab conditions but real life is different.

The issue for a lot of these is that the diodes last a long time, to the extent that they are classified as failing when they only emit 70% of their orrigional light not burning out.  The problem is that LED's want low voltage DC current, so they bulbs need a rectifier and likely a transformer to get the right kind of current.  Those are where the failing is most likely to occur.
