T-astragal Posted February 3, 2015 Report Share Posted February 3, 2015 We often pull 2x4 cripples out of opening and replace with 1x4's. That will gain you 1 1/2". If there is 1 king stud and 2 cripples you outta be fine. I don't build houses for a living but I do build and install doors. He said to come down and see if he had anything would help. I brought my measurements sheet and he happened to have some low profile reinforced millwork that was over ordered for a job. He sold it to me for $30 and also offered his help and wide belt sander when I start doing my cabinet build. Very cool guy and the door looks great.
