nkpaintingvt
Hello folks, I recently inherited this project that involves stripping and oiling large mahogany panels, then turning them into booth ends for a restaurant. If you look at the picture you'll see the panel on the left is pristine - I stripped that down with the Speed Heater and sanded with my Festool system. It worked like a charm. The panel on the right was chemically stripped by the guy who handed off the job, and as you can see the results were bad and now this discrepancy is my problem. A portion of each panel will never be seen so I have some wiggle room to play around with various methods. Sanding didn't work so it seems chemicals are my only option now. I experimented with oxalic acid powder a bit but the results aren't stellar. Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance! Noah
wdwerker
Oxalic will bleach out the wood, not nessacarily the stain. Refinishing is its own specialty, I haven't done much in years.
