Holcombwoodworks
What west system hardener is the best to use to stabilize bad spots in the wood when the finish is going to be clear. Walnut is the wood species
Tpt life
Somebody here posted test results for this very question. Let me dig. Here is the thread. It appears the photos are no longer linked, but the discussion and authors are there if you want to reach out to them. And welcome to the forums! Trip
==>Somebody here posted test results for this very question That was me... I closed-out my photobucket account, so the photos are gone... The best results were obtained by 105/207 -- hands-down... ==>stabilize bad spots in the wood when the finish is going to be clear One product, two options: 105/207 by itself or w/ West's carbon graphite additive. On some repairs, you want a clear filler... However, a jet black filling that mimics a natural feature looks a lot more convincing... The eye passes-off the repair as a knot and moves on... If you are not sure, take a cut-off and try it for yourself... In about 80% of cases, I use carbon graphite...

Don Z.
What do you mean by stabilizing bad spots? Rot? Cracks? Bugs?
