wouldwurker
I use the "turners tape" they sell at woodcraft. Strong stuff.

shaneymack
I use the "turners tape" they sell at woodcraft. Strong stuff. Would that turners tape be the same as the one lee valley sells? Im assuming they are all similar. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=49224&cat=1,110,43466
mikem
I use woodworkers tape as it doesn't leave any residue behind when it is removed, and is reusable for multiple work pieces. On top of that it is very easy to use.
Dan S
I use the "turners tape" they sell at woodcraft. Strong stuff. So do I, but I get my from the local Rockler. http://www.rockler.com/double-sided-turners-tape OP, if you haven't used turners tape before, do a little experimenting if you get it. If you use to much tape, you'll need a hammer and paint scrapper/chisel to get the pieces apart again.

Rapid Roger
I use ACE carpet tape from ACE hardware stores. They have two types, plastic back (50106) light duty, which I use for things that I want to take apart soon and cloth back (54308) heavy duty which I use for heaver use that I want to stay put. The plastic backed tape is great for use on the scroll saw when stack cutting or holding router patterns in place without damaging a good surface. The cloth backed is great for perminate applications on jigs etc. (and probably on a lathe but, I don't have a lathe so, I don't really know) I mounted My outdoor thermometer sending unit to the north, outside wall of the house with heavy duty tape and it is holding up well summer and winter. AceHoleInOne
Lowes (the box store) by me has the double stick duct tape works great and is very strong. What is nice you can cut it to any shape or size you want. -Ace-
Tom Cancelleri
I use psa turners tape. Great for turning, holding work in place for inlay routing, great for holding templates in place, etc.
treeslayer
I'm with rapid roger and ace, have used both lowes and ace, that cloth ace stuff is strong and holds tight but sometimes it leaves a residue if you leave it on too long, my 2 cents worth
wtnhighlander
+1 on carpet tape. Don't use too much!

TerryMcK
The best one I've found is from Stewmac http://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Glues_and_Adhesives/Tapes_and_Adhesives/3M_Double-stick_Tape.html It is 3M 9088 50mm (2") x 50M long (about 164 feet)
bushwacked
So many choices! I used the carpet tape and whatever I got sucked. Left residue and stuff all over. Didn't stick that well and was a nightmare to get on
estesbubba
I use this stuff and a little goes a long way when doing templates. http://www.hartvilletool.com/category/s?keyword=double+sided+tape
PlaneJoe
I use these two. The one on the left is a plastic carpet tape. On the right is the turners tape from lee valley. Both hold great when given firm pressure. And both leave a bit of residue if left too long, although the carpet tape seems to work better for reusable applications ( only a few). dwacker
You can get the tapes labels as turning tape and such at unline for 1/3 the price. Double sided painters tape is fine for routing templates.
