estesbubba
Grizzly shipping is always very reasonable. These usually have decent discounts during their summer sale and I might have to take the plunge then...
dwacker
I think you did ok. My cost on the jointer head is 443 - 20%.
Guest
I will be installing new bearings. Forgot to order them when I ordered the heads but I'll do it soon. Any recommendations on good ones or just go with Grizzly? The drum sander will never get lonely...there's always a reason to use it...small and thin pieces go through it constantly. I guess I won't worry about the holes. My OCD bone is aching though. I work in the bearing industry. I would go to a local industrial distributor and tell him you want Japanese quality. Nachi, NTN NSK are good brand names.
Eric.
Thanks for the tip but I already placed an order from Grizzly...long story, had difficulty deciphering Grizzly's planer bearing codes so I said screw it. You wouldn't happen to have a link to a reliable online source for those would you?
dwacker
Your planer is a 6205zz and a 6204zz omit the p in front of the pn#.
Trip
==>I work in the bearing industry. I would go to a local industrial distributor and tell him you want Japanese quality. Nachi, NTN NSK are good brand names. Very timely… I was just about to order a new set of bearings -- I started searching last night, but ran into a couple of problems... What's the quality difference between ‘Japanese quality’ and 'Euro quality' – I’m not going China, et al… The existing bearings are Schaeffler/FAG and around $75/each, but they are backordered… I can get SKF/BRG and these are $95/each… On another site, I found NTN at $14/each and at a third, Nachi at $24.95/each… Any hints on relative quality?
