Had this piece of quartersawn mahagony with beautiful ribbon striping forever...finally said 'screw it'...I'm cutting the darn thing. It's for a good friend. I've had coffee from a couple of these fancy pants coffee shops...tasted like the inside of a dead armadillo. Maybe not quite as dead. Coffee is gross, I don't care what you do with it. If it didn't have caffeine in it I wouldn't touch it. Cigars are the same...yuck...can't even inhale the damn things...what's the point? Sorry for the jack Vinny. I have discovered AeroPress and couldn't believe a $25 plastic tube and plunger could make such a great cup. I've been converted as well as several of my friends that have tried it. The only problem is that I bought a $200 grinder because the grind is the other key to a great cup of Joe! (tools for the kitchen!) I believe the pour-over method offers similar benefits - short duration of water contact (25-30 seconds). A guitar instructor at a local guitar shop/coffee bar compared it to their espresso machine.
