wouldwurker
That's why I only used it for a 1/4 BBP router template.

bgreenb
This looks awesome Vinny. You're taking a small project and really adding your own signature. Can't wait to see it all together. People are gonna come to this coffee shop for the coffee but they're gonna stay for your furniture
wouldwurker
Well, first major goof up, but not too big a deal. When I measured the bottom and top shelves, i didn't take into consideration that 1/4" proud finger joints throw off the width by a 1/2" total. In other words, I need to shave a 1/2" off the bottom shelf - so it's as wide as the inside distance between the two finger joints ...after my dominos have all already been plunged. Doh! wdwerker
Live and learn. Happens to us all , especially when you are building a one of a kind project.
..Kev
Yep, live and learn.. You could also add a strip of some contrasting wood in there and make it look intended.. Ebony would look pretty cool in there..
wouldwurker
Took a 1/2" off the bottom shelf, took a 1/2" off the dominos on one side...plenty of joinery..no need to replunge the mortises. Lesson learned
wdwerker
Gonna round those edges on the base ? That wood is going to come alive with the first touch of finish !
wouldwurker
Of course, just got done putting the sharpee on the edges to be rounded, a la Darrel Peart.Going to do the primary sanding first so it doesn't flatten out the roundover. Coop
Vinn, are you going to have a financial interest in your friends shop or just helping him out with the woodwork? It sounds like a pretty neat place.
wouldwurker
Whats that old saying about entering a business with friends or family? Just returning a million favors he's done me over the years. Parts and labor are on me.
Coop
Yeah, Dave Ramsey says the only ship that doesn't sail is a partnership, and I'm finding that out now, the hard way.
wouldwurker
Drilled and countersunk...my tightest joinery fit to date...and I'm putting screws in it...sheesh.

wouldwurker
Sanded as much as I could with the machine. Still some hand sanding to do. Added the cartoonish 3/16th roundover. Hitting the hay.
Immortan D
Cool gadget. Are you going to give your friend a warranty? For how many coffees?
Immortan D
kopi luwak Kopi luwak, or civet coffee, refers to the seeds of coffee berries once they have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet Sounds like Bear Grylls kind of food. I think I'll pass. Won't sleep inside a sheep either.
wouldwurker
Ah yes...the cat poop coffee. Appropriate that my design looks like a cat toilet then. I am a nut about good coffee, but the purists don't like that I use half and half. My favorite roasts come from 'Batdorf and Bronson' and 'Counter Culture' - both make a quality cup of joe. wouldwurker
Finished all the hand sanding in all the nooks and crannies. Been prototyping a few different downdraft set ups for hand sanding. And some rug anti skid pad Worked great...but I need a softer middle layer...the plastic is too sharp. I have this big hood to use for whatever I decide on eventually.
wouldwurker
As anticlimactic as it is, I'm going to apply the finish before the glue up and assembly. Will be easier all around. Thinking Watco butcher block due to the oil length having such a high resin content. Test board with surfaces sanded to 180, 220, 320, (end grain to 400)
Coop
Vinn, I noticed on a pic you posted yesterday with the square hole punch container on top, the countersink holes look perfect with no tear out. What did you use to make them?
