RichardA
A short time ago, I built my wife a desk from oak and cherry! The desk has an interesting curve and return. However, between her desk and my Old growth MDF desk is a cheap set of junk shelves, that seem to accumulate "things", and it stores paper and ink cartridges for the printer that nearly falls off this thing. I've had enough. So I built this to hide the clutter, give the printer a place that will actually hold it, and hide stuff that seems to gather behind my back! One is 24 x24 and will sit against the back of my wife's desk, the other is 16 x 24, which gives me room to turn my chair completely around. The total height is 48" In keeping with my wife's desk, there are some cherry accents, the base for the pulls, and splines for the door corners. The shelf in the cabinets are removable, if "things" begin to get out of hand. My wife likes odd pieces of wood thus the knots... and it does save me from having to cut around them or worse, just use clear wood.
wdwerker
I like to use the occasional knot too. To me it shows that it's real wood . I like to fill knots with something closer to the knots color. Nice looking pieces to go with the desk !

RichardA
Nice build Richard!! What was your finish? Hi Tim, the finish was simple... Minwax golden pecan stain, and 3 coats of brush on poly, sand to 420 then hit with Johnson's paste wax.
