Brendon_t
I was thinking more Pangea-ish after the shift started. You can still see Australia hanging on there in the middle
wtnhighlander
I'm pretty sure Elvis is in there somewhere.
davewyo
Is the grain direction alone going to be contrasty enough to differentiate each of the purpleheart flower petals?
Brendon_t
Is the grain direction alone going to be contrasty enough to differentiate each of the purpleheart flower petals? That's something I'm waiting to see also. As more come together, the more the tend to blure. Again, this is the try out to determine if I want to do it on the real box. Brendon_t
Got a couple more pieces inlayed. Still kinda looking like Michigan and California attempting to have a baby.
Brendon_t
In my normal jumping around between projects style, here are pieces 10-13 inlayed. One small piece of ppl heart and one more flower turn down in maple and the flower portion will be done. Just 9 more pieces of stalk and leaves to go..

Popular Post Brendon_t
I figured I should finally close this one out. Weekend fishing trip was cancelled so I spent the morning finishing the rose, removing it from the plywood, inlayed it into some hard maple, added the stem, thorns, and leaves. Chet
I like the way you worked the grain in different directions on the rose. I think it gives it more depth.

Janello
That turned out great, Brendon. I had wanted to do that on the door of my jewelry box but wasn't brave enough and wanted to get it done! I was wondering if the purple heart would look washed out and this answers my question. Definitely not.
