wdwerker Posted May 9, 2015 Report Share Posted May 9, 2015 Scott's liquid gold comes to mind first. You might try cleaning a inconspicuous area with mineral spirits and a clean rag. Maybe someone can tell you how to test to see what the original finish might have been. I know that denatured alcohol will dissolve shellac.
