Maybee
There are many descriptions of how to remove a keyless drill chuck. They all seem to involve opening the chuck to get at the screw inside. I cannot open the chuck and there is a bit stuck in it. This is a Dewalt DC 759 drill.
..Kev
That is interesting! Maybe someone here has a brilliant answer.. You could replace it - http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=dewalt+dc759&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=30683080841&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3787890345265051658&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_iuzf1ffo6_b
Coop
I'm sure the obvious is already spoken for, but you did put it in reverse and grip the chuck in your hand?
Tpt life
Cut the bit with a hacksaw, then drill it out.
Beechwood Chip
I'd treat it like a frozen nut/bolt: apply penetrating oil (3 in 1), bang it a few times (the vibrations in the metal parts help the oil penetrate), then wait a half an hour before trying to open it. Repeat until it opens.
Tom King
I took a couple of pipe wrenches to one once, and then replaced it with a good one.
tim0625
I had bought a drill & driver kit from Home Depot. Same thing happened to the drill and I couldn't open it even with pipe wrenches.
Tpt life
Yeah, I was not kidding. A stuck chuck was defective or poorly designed. Drill out the offending bit if the chuck will not loosen. Almost every chuck is secured with a screw through the floor. With the bit gone, you can remove the chuck to service it.
dwacker
Just whack each jaw with a punch it should knock it loose. Hit them as if you were knocking then back into the chuck.
