I think the surface is actually aluminum. yeah my dewalt contractor saw is exactly that. I wish it wasn't aluminum because nothing magnetic sticks to it. That specific plane would be hard to tell, he has a lot of them. He uses a #4 all the time. . He literally built his bench with only a #4 if I remember correctly.
