Tom Cancelleri
I might have to build some supports for the tops out of 2x4s while working on the bench, my saw horses can't hold the front and back at the same time due to width, and probably strength. I'm scared the front's gonna bust them. I figure some 2x4s with some vertical supports would support them nicely, would be strong enough to hold the tops, and won't be 150 bucks for big metal sawhorses. Brendon_t
Tom, how much do you think the slabs weigh? Stupid simple a frame 2x4 saw horses can hold a vw bug.. ask how I know * )
Tom Cancelleri
Tom, how much do you think the slabs weigh? Stupid simple a frame 2x4 saw horses can hold a vw bug.. ask how I know * ) My saw horses are folding plastic saw horses, they were given to me, I rarely ever use them. The front slab is about 70-80 pounds
Tom Cancelleri
Ran the front slab over the jointer, which I don't care what push blocks you use is a difficult challenge. Grrriper, standard 5 dollar push blocks. What worked the best was my suede gloves and pulling and pushing at the same time. Ran through the planer and brought it to 4 1/32" I hit the top with a card scraper to get down any little ridges from the planer. Front slab is ready to get chopped to final length. I'll tackle this with the track saw, and some clever spacer clamping

Eric.
Yep, I ruined a pair of Bench Dog push blocks building my Roubo. Looking good man...good progress...you're an animal.
FtrPilot
You could be setting the record for fastest Roubo... Looks great.
Tom Cancelleri
good progress...you're an animal. My Vise hardware shipped today, should be here Monday. My animalness will be my undoing, that slab was pretty tough to handle solo , and I imagine the rear slab is 50% heavier.

Tom Cancelleri
Tenon marked up And sliced up This took a surprisingly long time to do. Getting the track saw to the scribe line is not that easy, moving thousandth of an inch with that rail is a pain. I'm not a fan of circular saw joinery. If only my shoulder plane was here. Coop
Matching the next two sides to that shoulder may be even more difficult? Good luck!

Tom Cancelleri
Router plane is amazing, I don't know how I got by all this time without one.
Tom Cancelleri
Grumble grumble. I route out my vise cavity. Had a bit of a hiccup. But caught while routing and jumped. Was a huge pucker moment. I was holding the router really hard too. Good thing I undercut the length, I was able to extend it. Had to run out though after routing the vise cavity. Pics later. Eric.
LOL That's quite a catch. Looks like a lot of meat for a single pass but maybe it's just the angle of the pic. Had to run out after the routing, huh? To change your poopy panties?
Tom Cancelleri
Had to run to my parent's to let their dogs out.

Tom Cancelleri
Was that the top or bottom? Bottom. It happened because I was routing in the center and because of the change from regular to climb cut, I didn't think about it when it happened. It's all routed away now. Tom Cancelleri
I did however order a 1/2" 2"cutting length Whiteside up cut bit because my 3/8 bit with 1.5" bit can't do the inner wall pass without rubbing
..Kev
You could shorten your bench by the amount you're over your line and then just extend your cut out to the end of the damage. Doesn't look like you lose anything noticeable in the overall length of your bench. Glad you didn't get hurt! Change your shorts, learn the lesson, and move on. Tom Cancelleri
I routed it all away, it went 1/4" passed the line. There's no damage, it was all in waste material luckily.
